The MTHFR-Miscarriage debate

Does MTHFR in and of itself lead to a higher miscarriage risk? Or is it only when MTHFR actually manifests as higher homocysteine levels that it presents a risk? Here's a clear overview of the current debate on this topic in the medical community.

    I waited 3 weeks but nothing was happening so I had a d&C. MTHFR strikes again for the 3rd time

    i had 3 miscarriages. my 4th pregnancy was when the dr discovered i have MTHFR. i was on progesterone suppositories for my 1st trimester and baby aspirin & bed rest for the whole pregnancy. i was induced at 39 weeks and almost needed an emergency c-section due to late decel's. my boyfriend and i have been discussing having a 2nd child but the more i read about MTHFR the more i worry... my last pregnancy was so hard on me and the delivery was really hard on my son. im worried that if we try again, we wont be as lucky. i dont know if i can physically/emotionally handle another miscarriage (especially if it were to happen past 8wks) and i dont know what i would do if something were to be wrong with the baby. i had no idea some of the risks were spina bifida! or down syndrome! omg!!! im scared. has any one ever faced any of these birth defects? i really need some advice....
