This blogger nails it:
When you can't conceive, there is treatment, but for recurrent unexplained pregnancy loss, there is just keep trying. I'm not entirely convinced infertility treatment will help overcome pregnancy loss. I think it might help you get pregnant quicker and more often and give you a better chance that a pregnancy will take sooner rather then later.

ReplyDeleteBut trying again is so hard sometimes. You open yourself up to loss again. And no matter how many times you miscarry it does not get easier, you don't get used to it. Yes, you may come to expect it, since the likelihood of miscarriage starts to seem greater than actually ending up with a baby after nine months, but it hurts just as bad if not worse each time.
ReplyDeleteYou have to do what is best for you. You know better than anyone what you can take and what you can't. Just remember to breathe one minute at a time if it is what it takes. I know that trying again was one of the most frightening experiences of my life. It worked for me and I was so very lucky, however so people aren't so lucky. Don't let the "outside world" (doctors, friends, etc) dictate that you do something that you aren't comfortable with.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to try for another baby do it. If you don't then do not. Don't let pressure from outside make you go through regrets or pain that is totally unnecessary.
After i lost my little baby around 8 wks, i was terrified - i found a natural family planning doctor who would help me figure out what was wrong. I knew i was more likely to get pg after a m/c as the hormones had already started to bubble up or whatever, but i was so scared that i would get pg again only to lose another baby right away. And then i did get pregnant, the very next month. Went on progesterone right away, although my doctor mainly prescribed it thinking it was a placebo. But i had had spotting with the little one i lost, and i had never had spotting before - i also had spotting with the next little baby - but i went on progesterone right away and i got to keep her - she will be 11 months this month... so thankful. I think this is something that some doctors "don't believe in" but i have had too many american friends find progesterone to help pgcy "stick" - i think it's worth mentioning and def. worth trying if you are TTC...
